SCLOHO

Scott Howard

My Christian background doesn’t matter to God except that age 22, I humbly asked God that if what my friend Karen was telling me about salvation, forgiveness and grace was true, I wanted to surrender my life and heart to Christ. Before that day, I was raised in a Lutheran church and Lutheran High School involvement and would often pray, “God forgive me for the sins I am about to commit” and then go out and have fun. After that day of being born again, I have been learning that my Christian life is a journey of faith, failures, forgiveness and there is no other way I would ever want to live on this planet than to be in God’s family.

The Battle Continues…

The Battle Continues…

Sometimes I wonder if the battles are winnable. Today I am encouraged that they are. Let me explain. In my 50+ years on this planet, I have seen a tearing down of accepted values.  Not all at once, but one bit at a time. 20 years ago I noticed the contrast in what was...

Mortal or Eternal Answers?

Mortal or Eternal Answers?

As I write this, the headlines in the news continue to make people wonder what this world is coming to. From CNN: Two Students Wounded, One in Critical Condition as they claim we've had our 17th school shooting in America this year. From ABC: Tensions high in Austin...

Where Do You Place Your Trust?

Where Do You Place Your Trust?

The Best Of…

The Best Of…

At the conclusion of each year, it seems like the various news and entertainment outlets like to compile their "Best of this year" list. But no matter what we experience as we wander this planet of ours, the very best of our lives, will be experienced when we leave...

The Purpose of The Law

The Purpose of The Law

This weeks mass shooting is brought to you by the radical right and the National Rifle Association, said the meme after yet another tragedy. The outcry for sensible gun laws to stop events like this were all over the TV screens and small screens via social media and...

The Cure Is Not Here

The Cure Is Not Here

What's the cure for evil? What's the cure for death? These are the questions many unbelievers ask. Maybe not those exact words, but that ultimately is what they want to know. Another mass murder shooting in the United States, this time in Vegas has brought people...

What To Do While Waiting For The End

What To Do While Waiting For The End

I recall at age 22,  after committing my life to Christ how on fire I was for Jesus. So much so that I was annoying. Eventually my parents asked me to stop talking to them about it because they believed they were already Christians due to their infant baptism and...

And Then It Got Ugly

And Then It Got Ugly

A friend of mine posted on his Facebook page: It is time to go to war with these radical Christian terrorists. Whoa.  That got my attention. What led him to declare war on Christian terrorists? Events in Charlottesville, Virginia that resulted in death, destruction...
